WarnerMedia has added more exclusive content to its newly named streaming platform HBO Max.
The new service will combine WarnerMedia’s portfolio of content, including programming from HBO, Warner Bros., New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes and exclusive original content, into one single platform.
New deals with Warner Bros. Television and others for HBO Max include:
Exclusive streaming rights at launch to all 236 episodes of “Friends”;
Exclusive streaming rights at launch to all episodes of “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and “Pretty Little Liars”;
Exclusive streaming home to a string of Warner Bros.-produced dramas for The CW including DC Entertainment series “Batwoman” and “Katy Keene” (a spinoff of “Riverdale”) and
New exclusive movie production deals with Greg Berlant and Reese Witherspoon.
In total, the streaming platform is expected to host more than 10,000 hours of premium content when it debuts in spring 2020.
“HBO Max will bring together the diverse riches of WarnerMedia to create programming and user experiences not seen before in a streaming platform,” says Robert Greenblatt, chairman, WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer. “HBO’s world-class programming leads the way, the quality of which will be the guiding principle for our new array of Max Originals, our exciting acquisitions and the very best of the Warner Bros. libraries, starting with the phenomenon that is ‘Friends.’”
WarnerMedia announced its new streaming platform late last year as an untitled project that would include three subscription options. When it was announced, it joined a crowded field of streaming platforms that includes Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and Disney Plus.
