PBS animated series “Ready Jet Go!” has announced a series of space camps and a partnership with the Smithsonian as part of its celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The “Ready Jet Go!” Space Camp program will treat fans to hands-on STEM activities inspired by the show. Designed to help teach school-aged kids about space, the week-long camps will be hosted by PBS stations in nearly 20 states across the country.

Along with the space camps, the series has announced an event in collaboration with the debut of its new movie, Ready Jet Go!: One Small Step. The partnership event with the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum will include an IMAX screening of the film and a meet-and-greet with the people behind the feature.

“We’re truly ‘over the moon’ about bringing all these incredible ‘Ready Jet Go!’ events to fans across the U.S. this summer,” says Dete Meserve, executive producer, “Ready Jet Go!” “Whether it’s tuning-in to the can’t-miss new PBS KIDS special, discovering the wonders of astronomy in a space camp or joining in the fun on the National Mall, we’re giving young explorers an array of opportunities to celebrate the momentous anniversary and further develop their love of space and STEM learning.”

The events follow a previous celebration of the Apollo 11 landing from the series in the form of a new mobile app.
