“We are delighted to have secured a terrestrial broadcast partner in the U.K. for ‘Redakai: Conquer the Kairu.’ CiTV, as a free TV platform, plays a key part in supporting the roll out of Redakai's brand strategy in the U.K.,” says Karen Vermeulen, vice president of sales and co-production, Zodiak Kids, which brokered the deal. “I am sure this unique animation will be well-received on CiTV in the U.K. as it has been in other territories, including the U.S."
CiTV will begin airing the series April 2, with weekday morning schedules planned.
The television platform sets the stage for a comprehensive U.K. consumer product and toy plan, where Cartoon Network is the licensing agent and Spin Master holds the toy rights. The first product set to hit shelves will be Spin Master's Redakai TCG with Blast3D technology featuring one-of-a-kind 3D and animation effects. The initial launch phase will include consumer sampling, TV advertising and print advertising in April and May to raise awareness, generate trial and recruit kids to the collectible trading card game.
"We received an overwhelming response from retailers during London Toy Fair in January and everyone was very excited about the property and products,” says Phil Hooper, marketing director, Spin Master U.K. “We were also delighted that the BTHA awarded the Redakai starter set with a ‘2012 Best New Toy Award’ for the pocket money toy category."
