Louis Vuitton and the NBA have revealed the next installment of their ongoing partnership, a menswear capsule by Virgil Abloh, men’s artistic director, Louis Vuitton, along with a virtual selling experience in collaboration with Madison Square Garden.
The partnership launches just a few days after the 2020 NBA Draft with the virtual experience, and according to WWD, will include the Louis Vuitton emblem at center court, models in key looks from the capsule, an assortment of accessories and the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy and trophy case. All of these virtual features will be made possible through drone footage captured at the arena.
The newest capsule collection includes shoes, bags and ready-to-wear jewelry inspired by three concepts in the NBA player’s wardrobe: travel, game arrival and press conferences.
“Louis Vuitton and the NBA are both icons and leaders in their respective fields, and the joining of the two promises exciting and surprising moments, forging historic memories together,” Michael Burke, chairman and chief executive officer, Louis Vuitton told WWD. “Louis Vuitton has long been associated with the world’s most coveted trophies, and with this iconic partnership, the legacy continues – victory does indeed travel in Louis Vuitton.”
The NBA x LV digital experience is open to the public at LouisVuitton.com.
