Globall, which currently produces a version of their desk lamp under license from the RFU, has signed a deal which runs until 2020. Globall will be allowed to use the colored ellipse trim and Gilbert name and logo on an expanded product range.
Released in 2016, the England Rugby Ball Light is the first consumer product designed and manufactured by Globall. Designed in Twickenham, the home of England Rugby, the Rugby Ball Light is a rugby ball-shaped desk or bedside lamp. A replica of the Gilbert Rugby ball used by elite rugby players the world over, the Rugby Ball Light has been designed specifically for rugby fans. The eight-piece construction duplicates the structure of a size 5 rugby ball and the colors and graphics match those of the Gilbert original.
“We get a huge number of requests for different team lamps from the public,” says Steve Hicks, managing director, Globall. “Until now, we have not been able to respond to these enquiries. We have yet to approach any additional potential licensor clubs or unions, but securing this license is the first step in expanding our line.”
Globall is planning to produce an expanded product range for release in summer and fall 2019.
