Penguin Ventures has announced a new partnership with the Selladoor family to develop a brand-new stage show based on author Eric Hill’s original “Spot” books.

Stelladoor aims to offer families an experience ideal for first-time theatergoers. Scriptwriter Guy Unsworth has developed a show that incorporates the most engaging elements of Spot’s world. The production will include features such as search and find, counting and colors to create a program full of audience participation.

“Bringing brands to life on stage is a key part of our live events strategy, so we really wanted to find a theatre partner that understood, but more importantly, really loved ‘Spot,’” says Thomas Merrington, creative director, Penguin Ventures. “In Selladoor we have found a brilliant creative partner to bring Spot to life and in Guy a wonderful writer who really understands the unique elements of Spot and his world. We are thrilled to be partnering with them to bring ‘Spot’ to the stage in his milestone 40th year.”

The theatrical production will launch to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the original “Where’s Spot?” picture book in 2020.
