HarperCollins Children’s Books has unveiled a year-long publishing and celebratory plan to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Judith Kerr’s book, “Mog.”

New consumer products will be supported by a PR and marketing campaign that celebrates “Mog” - #mogmeansfamily. Highlights include brand partnerships, media coverage, events and live entertainment. Celebrations began in bookshops around the country this half-term with window displays, in-store activities, and storytime sessions featuring the character costume which will tour throughout 2020, including visits to major literary festivals.

There is a special anniversary edition of “Mog the Forgetful Cat” currently out on the market. Later this year, “A “Summer of Mog” is a brand-new audio collection of eight “Mog” titles available on CD and digital download, will include recordings of “Mog and Bunny,” “Mog and the Granny,” “Mog in the Dark” and “Mog on Fox Night” for the first time. These titles will be read by actress/artist Tacy Kneale, Kerr’s daughter.

In September, a celebratory title “Mog’s Birthday” will launch in hardback. HarperCollins created this birthday story in collaboration with Judith Kerr, using a selection of pictures from 50 years of illustrating “Mog” to bring the story to life. Kerr approved the title shortly before her death in May 2019.

Launching alongside “Mog’s Birthday” will be a slip-cased hardback edition of “Mog the Forgetful Cat.” A special anniversary paperback edition of “Mog’s Christmas” will be released this October and a hardbacked treasury of six Mog stories, The Mog Treasury will be on shelves this November.

HarperCollins Children’s Books has also announced a new theater production of “Mog the Forgetful Cat,” adapted by The Wardrobe Ensemble and co- produced by The Old Vic, Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Underbelly Productions and Wardrobe Ensemble. The show will hit the stage this summer.
