The Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka – a new float inspired by Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Wonka” – will make its way down the streets of New York City this November in the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Drawn from the wholly original new tale, the float features delicately detailed confections adorning the shop’s counters that line the way to a majestic cherry tree, the heart of this floating fantasy. In fact, the illuminated candy jars on the float contain approximately 592,000 pieces of prop candy to help bring this fantastical float to life.
“The story of Willy Wonka and his imaginative confections have delighted audiences for generations, and we are thrilled to share that wonder with spectators across the country,” says Jordan Dabby, producer, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Our Macy’s Studios artisans have outdone themselves with this magnificent float, and I’m thrilled for it to make its grand debut this Thanksgiving in our Parade.”
“We are excited to partner with Macy’s to bring the magical, wondrous and decidedly delicious world of ‘Wonka’ to life in the iconic Thanksgiving Day parade,” says Dana Nussbaum, executive vice president, worldwide marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures. “The film tells the wholly original story of one of the most beloved characters of all time, and joining the festivities of this treasured annual tradition is the perfect way to give audiences a taste of what they’ll experience when they see ‘Wonka’ on the big screen.”
The 97th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will air nationwide in the U.S. on NBC and stream on Peacock, on Thursday, Nov. 23. Check local listings for details.
