Entertainment One has announced that Nick Jr in the U.S. will broadcast its "Peppa Pig" animated shorts stateside as a new half-hour TV series. "Peppa Pig" currently airs as an interstitial series on Nick Jr in the U.S.

"We are confident that Peppa will be as popular with children and families in the U.S. as she is in the U.K., creating opportunities to expand the franchise around the world," says Darren Throop, Entertainment One's chief executive officer.

The series has been broadcast on Nick Jr in the U.K. since 2004 and is consistently one of the channel's top rated shows.

"Peppa Pig" airs in 180 territories worldwide with a catalog of 156 episodes, as well as an additional 52 commissioned and in production for delivery over the next two years.
