Universal Brand Development has tapped Marisa Marti to serve as the vice president of internal softlines for consumer products.

In the newly created role, Marti will spearhead internal product operations and will identify new retail opportunities in the home and fashion categories. Marti will also look for opportunities in the agent market.

“With extensive experience in the fashion industry, Marisa will drive expansion for Universal Brand Development’s existing properties with strategic initiatives to bring high-quality fashion and home collections to retail,” says Marc Low, senior vice president and general manager, international consumer products, Universal Brand Development.

“We are excited to expand both our footprint and creativity in these important business categories across the globe.”

Before joining Universal, Marti served as the vice president and general manager for Portugal and Spain at Disney consumer products. During her tenure, she commissioned many direct-to-retail deals with key fast fashion chains including Zara and Cortefiel.

She is seated in Universal's London office.

Universal will exhibit at Brand Licensing Europe at stand D60.
