The Licensing Awards 2020 has confirmed that the event has moved to Dec. 16.
The event was initially planned for on Sept. 9. While the date has changed, The Licensing Awards will still take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, U.K. The deadline for the awards categories has also been extended to Aug. 7. The period covered by the rewards will remain the same as in previous years.
“With no guidance or direction on hospitality restrictions due to be announced by the government until July, we felt it was prudent to move the event towards the end of the year, when everyone will hopefully be able to celebrate safely together,” says Ian Hyder, joint managing director, Max Publishing, which owns and organizes The Licensing Awards.
Finalists of The Licensing Awards will be announced later this summer, while the winners will be unveiled in December.
The Licensing Awards 2020 had previously announced that all judging of the submissions would be done online to comply with active social distancing measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The decision to move the entire entering and judging for the awards to online for this year has been well-received, but with so many members of the licensing community on furlough and therefore unable to enter the awards, our initial deadline [of May 31] was unrealistic and not fair,” adds Hyder. “Giving everyone an extension of another two months will hopefully making things a lot easier for everyone.”
The Licensing Awards 2020 ‘s headline sponsor of the awards is Brand Licensing Europe, while Licensing International is an official supporter.
