King Features Syndicate is showcasing a new lineup of properties at Licensing Expo this year while expanding the program for its cornerstone brands Popeye and Betty Boop.
King is featuring the two newest additions to its portfolio, Chicken Soup for the Soul and Archie Comic’s Betty & Veronica, and is unveiling new plans for Popeye and Betty Boop.
“Whether bringing new properties into the fold or continuing to build upon our world-class portfolio, there is a common identity to the King Features brand that lends itself to top-of-the-line licensing programs,” says Ita Golzman, vice president of North American licensing, King Features. “We are excited to have so many upcoming projects to showcase at this year’s Licensing Show as we continue to grow and evolve our company.”
King Features will be shining a spotlight on the iconic Popeye brand by bringing the famous sailorman and his friends to a variety of categories. The brand will continue its presence in the beauty and fashion arena with RazorMD, and King will continue to position Olive Oyl in the fashion space.
Betty Boop is getting an all-new treatment that will take the brand into unexplored territory–Betty Boop Zombie Love. With a new style guide and art treatments, the brand extension follows a deal with Joyrich to introduce the character into fashion boutiques across the country.
