Copyright Promotions Licensing Group, a DHX Media company, is expanding across the pond with the opening of CPLG North America.

The new operation, which will be based in Los Angeles, Calif., will be headed by industry veteran Ted Larkins.

The U.S. office will look to build on CPLG’s 40-year track record of success in Europe, leveraging properties from the U.S. to the international market and vice versa. The full-service agency’s capabilities will include licensing, sales, retail development, product approvals, finance and legal services.

CPLG North America will represent a number of high-profile brand and sporting rights including The Michelangelo Collection, Space Invaders and St Andrews Links. It will also be the appointed licensing agent for key entertainment brands from its parent company DHX Media including Yo Gabba Gabba!, Caillou, Ella the Elephant, Johnny Test and the recently acquired Degrassi franchise.

Ted Larkins, who will take on the role of senior vice president and general manager, CPLG North America, is an established executive who has represented major consumer, sports and entertainment brands including Pepsi, New Balance and Jack Nicklaus, as well as many Hollywood studios’ portfolios. He will report to CPLG’s chief executive officer Peter Byrne.

“As one of the most trusted and respected agency brands in the industry, the North American market represents a natural next step for our business,” says Byrne. “We also have a very seasoned pair of hands in Ted Larkins, whose experience will be a major asset in spearheading CPLG’s growth in this market. We are thrilled to welcome Ted on board–it is a very exciting milestone in the company’s history.”
