Bioworld Merchandising has donated more than 10,000 masks to hospitals in New York and plans to donate more in Texas.
The masks are primarily KN95 masks, which have the same or similar properties of N95 masks. KN95 is now accepted and permissible for hospital use during the pandemic.
Bioworld is also distributing surgical masks, latex gloves and medical goggles. The company has been distributing the supplies to hospitals directly and shipping them to medical centers where doctors and nurses know Bioworld and have reached out to them. Production from global partners started in late January, and delivery started in early March.
Hospitals receiving supplies include:
Columbia Presbyterian Hospital;
NYU Hospital;
Westchester Medical Center;
Yale New Haven Hospital;
Northern Westchester Hospital;
Block Island Medical Center;
Bridgeport Yale Hospital;
CareMount Medical Group; and
Bellevue Hospital.
Bioworld’s vice president Michael Nolan, who works out of the New York office, spearheaded the effort with close collaboration from the company’s vice president of global sourcing and its Shanghai office.
“Bioworld is proud to be able to use our global supply chain to make positive impacts where they are needed most,” says Jason Mayes, marketing director, Bioworld. “Key people in the Bioworld community like Michael Nolan and Vinny Shah worked directly with our Shanghai office to streamline the production and get the supplies fast.”
Bioworld has more than 2,000 more masks coming in for distribution to Baylor, Scott and White Hospital in Irving, Texas.
