What can you tell me about the history of the IP and how it came about?

We invented GaBBY Bows in 2014 when I was 7 years old after my mom’s rant on Twitter about constantly losing barrettes led to other frustrated moms commenting and our pastor replying with a suggestion we break into the market.

My mom and I wanted to solve the problems of disappearing barrettes, like the wasted time and money on hairstyles that would not last, so we worked to innovate the best barrette. We hold three patents on GaBBY Bows.

What makes your IP unique?

The GaBBY Bow has two faces, so everyone can always see the adorable design no matter how the hair moves, contrary to old barrettes that only have one face. Also, there are teeth and craters on the inside of each face to help trap the hair in place and set it apart from other barrettes in the market.

What do the next 12-24 months look like for the IP? Anything you can share with us?

We look forward to expanding our brand and maximizing our patents through our first three licensing deals. We will create special GaBBY Bows with characters or other brand symbols. GaBBY Bows will also be sold in retail stores.

Tell us about the Confidence Salon – what makes it stand out from your average salon?

The Confidence Salon is dedicated to serving girls and helping them grow in their confidence. Not many hairstylists take girls as clients, so we solve this problem for busy parents.

Our salon also provides a full 360 experience, as girls can come get their hair done and feel confident in themselves, and also see the behind-the-scenes of our business and see another girl following and achieving her dreams in the Confidence headquarters.

The fun part about your products is the ability to collaborate with other brands. Do you have any plans for future partnerships?

We do have plans through the licensing space to partner with amazing brands. Our first three licensing deals with characters are in the works right now, and we would love to private label our barrettes with retailers. We are excited about finding more amazing partners to collaborate with at Licensing Expo!
