Licensing Essentials Introduces Delegates to the World of Licensing

Licensing International held its first Licensing Essentials course on May 23, the first since the organization’s recent rebrand from Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) earlier in this month.

The event, now more than 20 years old, brought retail, licensing and manufacturing delegates together to discuss the modern landscape of the licensing industry. Sparking discussion through a series of seminars and lectures, the Licensing Essentials course brought representatives from major U.K. and international retailers to the room for direct insights into the processes, innovations and future of licensing.

Starting the day with an overview of the licensing industry was Kelvyn Gardner of Licensing International, who was followed by industry experts who provided in-depth views on licensing. Experts included:

  • Richard Pink (Pink Key Licensing);

  • Dawn Lavalette (Wow!Stuff);

  • Mark Templeman (GFK);

  • Tim Collins (The Brand Director);

  • Ian Down (Keystone Law);

  • David Born (Born Licensing);

  • Gary Pope (Kids Industries) and

  • Dave Collins (PowerStation).

Closing the day was Licensing International's panel of experts including Aysha Kidwai (The Social Store), Rachel Wakley (Warner Bros.), Rikesh Desai (BBC), Ian Downes (Start Licensing) and Susan Bolsover (Penguin Random House), who answered questions and broke down current issues for a comprehensive look into the world of licensing.

The Spring Fling then brought delegates to the courtyard of 54 Buckingham Gate, London for a networking event, which closed the evening and marked yet another successful entry into the Licensing Essentials portfolio.
