Big Idea Entertainment and its VeggieTales brand are appearing under the DreamWorks Animation umbrella for the first time at this year’s Licensing Expo, with big plans for the brand’s 20th anniversary in 2014.

VeggieTales has already inked several key partnerships for the anniversary including novelty toys from Round 2 and LightUpToys.com; toddler and infant care items from Zydeco Studios, Nuby and Personal Care Products; and books and classroom supplies from Group Publishing, Ideals Publications and Mardel.

The brand aims to continue the momentum it has seen recently in the digital category. This sector of the business is an important growth area and is bolstered by the addition of three new licensees: Cupcake Digital (deluxe story experience apps) Fingerprint Play (educational game apps) and Story Panda (iPad storybook platform).

“It’s an exciting time to be a Veggie-tarian,” says Greg Fritz, senior vice president, home entertainment and consumer products, Big Idea Entertainment. “As part of the DreamWorks Animation family, VeggieTales licensees will have an unprecedented level of support. This, combined with our 20th anniversary celebration and exciting new digital, DVD and TV content forthcoming, makes now the ideal time for new partners to get on board. Together we can continue to offer young families the widest variety of quality products to enjoy.”
