NBCUniversal's 24-hour preschool network Sprout will premiere the new animated series “Dot” this September.

The series is based on the popular children’s book of the same name by Randi Zuckerberg and will be produced by the Industrial Brothers (“Yup Yups” and “Gummandos”) in association with The Jim Henson Company (“Pajanimals” and “Dinosaur Train”) and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

The Jim Henson Company will handle all media rights for “Dot” outside of Canada and all consumer products rights worldwide.

“Dot” is targeted to children ages 4- to 7-years-old and will follow the tech-savvy Dot and her adventures. Like children today, Dot has never lived in a world without the Internet, cell phones and tablets, and the show will aim to inspire children by showcasing the way Dot uses technology as a tool to enhance her experiences.
