Sony has sold its online gaming division Sony Online Entertainment to the investment management firm Columbus Nova.

Known for its massively multi-player online games such as "EverQuest," "PlanetSide2" and "DC Universe Online," the company will now operate as an independent gaming studio and has been renamed Daybreak Game Company.
