Rovio Expands ToonsTV with New Series

Rovio Entertainment is expanding its ToonsTV online channel to include several other Angry Birds-themed series as well as third-party content from Stan Lee’s Pow! Entertainment, Hasbro Studios and National Geographic Kids.

The ToonsTV online channel, which launched in March with the series “Angry Birds Toons,” has already had more than 1 billion visits.

Rovio is planning a second season of the series and has tapped Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for home entertainment distribution.

In addition to a second season of “Angry Birds Toons,” Rovio is also planning several other original series including shows dedicated to the Bad Piggies and Stella.

And Rovio has unveiled a number of third-party series that will round out the ToonsTV roster. These include the worldwide launch of Stan Lee’s “Chakra the Invincible” from Pow! Entertainment and Graphic India; shorts, specials and series from Hasbro Studios’ classic brands; National Geographic Kids’ “Amazing Animals”; “Fraggle Rock” from The Jim Henson Company; and “Oggy & the Cockroaches,” “Zig & Sharko,” “Space Goofs” and more from Xilam Animation.
