Penguin has acquired publishing rights to “The Furchester Hotel,” the brand-new children’s series from CBeebies and Sesame Workshop.

Copyright Promotions Licensing Group has granted Penguin Children's world (excluding North America) publishing rights to brand in all languages.

Penguin will launch its Furchester line under its Ladybird imprint in summer 2015. The range will be aimed at 3- to 6-year-olds and include story, activity, character and novelty titles.

Co-produced by CBeebies and Sesame Workshop, “The Furchester Hotel,” which launched in September, is about a close-knit family of cheerfully chaotic Muppet monsters who own and operate an “almost” world-class hotel. Starring a whole new family of monsters, as well as Sesame Street favorites Elmo and the Cookie Monster, the show aims to promote creative problem solving for preschoolers.

“The Workshop’s mission is to use the educational power of media to help all children reach their highest potential, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be teaming up with Penguin under the Ladybird imprint to introduce a new family of Muppet characters, along with their furry friends Elmo and Cookie Monster, to the market,” says Renee Mascara, vice president, international media distribution, Sesame Workshop.
