Funko and Blockbuster Unveil Nostalgic Product Line, Rewind

Products will highlight the ’80s and ’90s.

Funko, in partnership with Blockbuster, has announced the debut of its retro entertainment product line, Rewind, which focused on delivering nostalgia directly to consumers through collectibles and packaging fashioned around the Blockbuster design. Each newly designed collectible figure comes encased in VHS-type packaging unique to each IP. Allowing fans to relive the cherished memory of renting a movie on a Friday night with family and friends, each figure will also come with a membership card that mirrors Blockbuster’s memorable design.

“With the resurgence of ’80s and ’90s trends, Funko is bringing the best pop-culture film moments home with Rewind, helping fans connect over shared memories while simultaneously complementing the product options from our most sought-after product line,” says Brian Mariotti, chief executive officer, Funko.

Rewind figures will differ from the typical Funko aesthetic, allowing the brand to innovate in a new way while simultaneously celebrating the nostalgia and overall creativity of the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s. 

“Our partnership with Blockbuster, one of the most well-known retail chains in entertainment, will provide our fans with the opportunity to be on the precipice of vintage pop culture and entertainment,” added Mariotti. “Steeped in nostalgia, Rewind expertly showcases the breadth of our licensing pedigree, providing consumers with a new way to access and embrace the pop culture titans that defined a generation in a way that is unique to Funko.”

Rewind stands as the latest addition to Funko’s range of collectible products. Funko’s ever-growing roster of products includes staples such as GOLD and Soda, the recently released Bitty Pop! line, and the upcoming Funko Fusion video game in 2024. 

Fans will be able to experience Funko’s throwback to the era of VHS at Funko’s Fun on the Run cross-country event (July 7-July 19).
