Disney Junior has optioned the New York Times-bestselling kids' book series Fancy Nancy for a TV movie and series, and Disney Consumer Products is already on board for an accompanying line of role play items and other products.

Written by Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser, the Fancy Nancy book series includes 60 titles and has sold more than 28 million copies in 20 languages.

In addition to Disney Junior and DCP's plans, HarperCollins and Disney Publishing will collaborate on book editions based on the animated television series.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Disney Junior to bring Fancy Nancy to the small screen and to the next generation of fans," says Susan Katz, president and publisher, HarperCollins Children's Books. "As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this bestselling series, it's exciting to see our beloved character making her TV debut."
