DHX Media has partnered with U.S. network Nickelodeon and Canadian network YTV to develop the new live-action, musical-comedy series "Make It Pop."

The half-hour sitcom is a music-infused daily strip about three girls who come together to start their own K pop-inspired band.

The first 20 episodes of the series, which will feature original songs and performances, are currently in production at DHX’s Epitome Studio in Toronto, Canada. The series is a co-creation of Thomas Lynch and Nick Cannon and will debut April 6.

In addition to producing the series, DHX Media will handle global distribution and brand management. Merchandising and licensing will be handled through DHX's subsidiary Copyright Promotions Licensing Group.

“Tom and Nick have created a standout, up-to-the-minute series with a beating musical heart and unbridled energy, style and humor," says Steven DeNure, president and chief operating officer, DHX Media. "High school shenanigans have never before been this spirited and comical. 'Make It Pop' has all the ingredients to be a success.”
