DHX Media has partnered with China National Television (the new media broadcast division of state broadcaster China Central Television) to launch a new streaming service featuring DHX children’s content across multiple platforms nationally in China.

Under the revenue sharing deal, DHX will initially provide more than 700 half-hours of children’s content for the new service, which is expected to offer video-on-demand, advertising video-on-demand and subscription-video-on-demand services.

Among the DHX shows that will be provided in Mandarin for the new streaming service are “Teletubbies,” “Inspector Gadget,” “Madeline” and “Sonic the Hedgehog.” DHX plans to add new content on a continual basis as new series are produced.

The as-yet-unnamed service will be available nationally in the People’s Republic of China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), although a launch date has not yet been announced.

“Launching a new children’s streaming service with China’s official state broadcaster represents a tremendous opportunity to deliver DHX brands to a massive, emerging market,” says Steven DeNure, president and chief operating officer, DHX. “We are delighted and honored to have been able to sign this cooperation agreement."
