Crunchyroll, in collaboration with Aniplex, has announced the anime adaptation of the Korean manhwa series, “Solo Leveling,” will make its global debut on Crunchyroll’s streaming platform Jan. 6 and will reach viewers across 200 territories.
“At Crunchyroll, we are always looking for innovative ways to connect our audience with captivating stories from around the world,” says Asa Suehira, chief content officer, Crunchyroll. “‘Solo Levelin’g is a groundbreaking series that has captured the imagination of fans globally, and we are thrilled to be part of the journey to bring this extraordinary manhwa to life as an anime. Our collaboration with Aniplex symbolizes our commitment to delivering high-quality, diverse content that resonates with our viewers.”
The anime series, “Solo Leveling,” is adapted from the best-selling Korean web novel written by Chugong, which was later adapted into a webtoon and manhwa in 2018, with illustrations by DUBU. Along with launching the series for streaming, Crunchyroll is representing the consumer products rights for the series worldwide outside of Asia.
“‘Solo Leveling’ is an epic tale of growth and resilience where Hunters battle larger than life monsters, connecting the real world with the realm of magic,” says Anna Songco Adamian, vice president, global consumer products, Crunchyroll. “Crunchyroll is excited to represent the global consumer products rights for the series worldwide outside of Asia (but including India). The upcoming anime is based on a globally beloved Korean Webtoon and title will lend itself particularly well to apparel and collectibles as the anime community loves to wear their fandom on their sleeve and outwardly display their passion for their favorite series. We do find that anime fans also enjoy out-of-the-box collaborations, including food, beverage, fashion and QSRs. We’re excited for fans to start streaming ‘Solo Leveling’ in January, and we look forward to presenting anime fans with licensing partnerships around the series.”
