The shorts will premiere on Boomerang with promotional crossover on Cartoon Network and the "Cartoon Network" app.
The 500 shorts, which are the first-ever animated interpretation of the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, are currently on air in more than 20 territories around the world. The new deal between FranceTV Distribution and Turner Broadcasting will mark the first showing of the shorts in an English-speaking country.
The deal is also the next step in the Peanuts brand’s commitment to bring new content to the next generation of fans and is timed with the release of the brand's first-ever feature film,
The Peanuts Movie
, from Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios this fall.
“Having Boomerang as the everyday TV home of Peanuts for the U.S. is an important piece of our kids-focused content strategy,” says Leigh Anne Brodsky, managing
director, PeanutsWorldwide and Iconix Entertainment. “Today’s kids will be able to get their daily dose of Peanuts from the leader in kids' entertainment.”
