British Designers Style ‘Pingu’ Capsule

“Pingu,” a British-Swiss TV series created in 1986, will launch an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with British designers Phiney Pet and The Rodnik Band.

Classic U.K. cartoon inspires new Colette range ahead of its 30th anniversary.

“Pingu,” a British-Swiss TV series created in 1986, will launch an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with British designers Phiney Pet and The Rodnik Band.

The Rodnik Band’s 30-piece range will include handbags, rucksacks and phone cases. Meanwhile, womenswear designer Phiney Pet’s line will comprise of 18 pieces featuring the character’s classic graphics in leathers, faux furs and pinafores.

“‘Pingu’ is an adorable and timeless character. His charming aesthetic, paired with my playful style worked perfectly together and has resulted in a very sweet collection,” says Phiney Pettman, designer, Phiney Pet. “One of my ‘90s kids’ TV icons has now become one of my fashion icons, what better way to celebrate his 30th anniversary!”

The “Pingu” capsule collection is slated to launch at Colette Paris next month.

“Pingu” is a BAFTA-award winning television series and is centered around penguin families living and working in igloos. The series showcases that everyday life can become an extraordinary and hilarious adventure. The series will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year.
