King Features has partnered with The Nippon Professional Baseball Organization, the official league of Japan, to launch a range of Betty Boop sportswear.
Developed through NPB’s licensing partner, Space Age Company, the new line will feature Betty Boop on a range merchandise including t-shirts, bandanas, towels, mirrors and pass cases for most teams in the league, including the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, Tokyo Yakult Swallows, Yokohama DeNA Baystars and Hanshin Tigers.
King Features is the exclusive worldwide licensing agent for Betty Boop and works closely with Fleischer Studios to manage the brand. The NPB x Betty Boop collaboration was brokered by Copyrights Asia, King Features’ licensing agent in Japan.
“We’ve been able to successfully introduce Betty Boop to the athleisure market, so it is a logical progression into sports collaboration,” says Cathleen Titus, vice president, international licensing, King Features. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with the various Japanese baseball teams to bring Betty to their fans.”
The NPB x Betty Boop collaboration is now available at team stadium shops and sportswear retailers in Japan.
