The University of California, Davis has partnered with alumni-owned business City Bicycle Company to create a branded bicycle.

Strategic Marketing Affiliates, UC Davis’ licensing agent, brokered the deal.

"With the owners of the company being UC Davis alumni, they have a unique pulse on our current student population and alumni,” says Doug Kouba, trademarks and licensing coordinator, UC Davis.

The UC Davis bike, which features the school's logo and mascot on a black-and-white frame, was launched in October. The partners are currently developing a second model with a “swaggier” (campus lingo) design featuring school colors and logos.

“Our company was built from the ground-up in our dorm rooms at UC Davis," says Vince Vu, sales manager and co-founder, City Bicycle Company. "We chose to collaborate with UC Davis to celebrate our experiences as students there. UC Davis equipped us with the skills necessary to guide our company to success.”
