Turner CN Enterprises has signed the Environmental Justice Foundation to create the first Captain Planet apparel line in the U.K. The deal marks the 21st anniversary of the environmental superhero, Captain Planet, and plays off trends for superheroes and retro-inspired merchandise.

Aimed at High Street fashion retailers and independent boutiques, the deal includes clothing and accessories products for men, women and children. The vintage-inspired line will hit stores in the U.K. and Irish markets this summer, and all production will be “climate neutral,” organic fairly traded cotton and wind-powered factories.

“Alongside the growth in consumer demand for ethical products is our love of all things retro and the Captain Planet range is sure to deliver on both,” says Graham Saltmarsh, U.K. licensing director at Turner CN Enterprises. "Consumers have the power to make a difference by asking retailers and manufacturers to provide sustainable solutions.  Captain Planet is the perfect ambassador for this.”

“Captain Planet” premiered in September 1990 with the goal to educate and empower audiences to be environmental crusaders and help save the planet. Original voice artists included Hollywood A-listers such as Tom Cruise (the original voice of Captain Planet), Meg Ryan, Whoopi Goldberg, Martin Sheen, Sting, Tim Curry and Jeff Goldblum.
