Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products has announced a series of retail events in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan and the Philippines for evergreens Spongebob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer.
The series of meet-and-greets, fashion shows, live events and retail areas marks a targeted increase in activity in Asia.
In Taiwan, a Dora retail promotion took place at Dream Mall in Kaoshiung in June and July. In addition to a number of meet-and-greets, a product display featured licensed merchandise including stationery, publishing titles, footwear, helmets, apparel, towels, bedding and homewares.
Dora the Explorer was also the star of the “Dora Masquerade Ball Fashion Show” held at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Philippines, in July. In addition to the fashion show, the event included photo corners, a raffle draw and a retail area showcasing Dakki pillows, Crombie accessories and Hebron gifts and novelties.
The fashion show featured the 2012 Dora Holiday Collection by Kinderkind Apparel, Southern Glory for sleepwear, Sorella Garments for swimwear and Blooming for footwear, using the Masquerade Magic Style Guide. Attendees also got a sneak peek at the 2013 Dora Summer Collection using the new Alphabet Style Guide.
In Indonesia, the “SpongeBob Krabby Patty Celebration” live show began its run Aug. 8 and will continue through Aug. 26 at the Tunjungan Plaza Mall in Surabaya. The live shows are supported by a Nickelodeon retail area selling a range of products from PT Citra Sastra for bags, stationery, publishing, gifts and novelties; PT Adinata for stationery and bags; and Joey Sasmita Lencana for apparel.
Finally, in Hong Kong eight Fortune Malls across the territory are hosting a range of SpongeBob SquarePants events that began in July and will continue through this month including fashion shows, photo corners, raffle draws and designated SpongeBob SquarePants retail areas.
