Family entertainment company Komixx Entertainment has opened its first international office in Los Angeles, Calif., as part of its expansion into the U.S. market.

Komixx, creator of the U.K. children’s series “Toby’s Travelling Circus,” is now setting its sights on the American television, film and computer gaming industries, with a focus on high-end drama for teenagers.

The company is already partnered with Random House Children’s Publishers U.K. and has recently joined with the U.S. media company Great Guns to explore content for computer games based on its portfolio of franchises.

“The model for IP and rights-owning companies in our segment has shifted considerably,” says Andrew Cole-Bulgin, joint chief executive officer and head of film and TV, Komixx. “The focus needs to be on successful franchises with potential to create not just long-term broadcast success, but retail success on a global scale. Working with Great Guns, a company with a long reputation for innovation, high-caliber creative solutions and superb production values, was viewed as a natural extension to the work we are doing in the U.K.”
