Heston Blumenthal Food Range to Debut at Waitrose

The top chef famous for concoctions such as snail porridge and bacon and egg ice cream is to create his first range of packaged food for sale at U.K. supermarket Waitrose.

Twenty Heston Blumenthal items will go on sale later this year, including vanilla mayonnaise and beef and kelp pie, as well as store-cupboard ingredients, bakery goods and puddings. Prices will range from £3 ($4.50) to more than £10 ($15), making it Waitrose's most expensive line of packaged food.

"These are not packets of food I am putting my name to, these are my recipes with Waitrose, recipes I created," says Blumenthal, who already appears in advertisements for Waitrose.

"This brand is a natural progression of our relationship and we know that our customers will love to cook with Heston's range," says Rupert Thomas, marketing director for Waitrose.
