Iconix Scores with Umbro in India

Iconix India, a joint venture between Iconix Brand Group and Reliance Brands, has signed a new licensing agreement with Future Lifestyle Fashions for the Umbro brand.

“The Indian fashion market has seen a surge in demand for sportswear in the last couple of years, but there is still a gap in demand and supply of branded sportswear in the country,” says Rakesh Biyani, joint-managing director, Future Retail, a division of the recently merged FLF. “Umbro will help us to fill in this gap and provide our customers with choices in sportswear.”

Under the new deal, FLF will sell Umbro apparel and footwear at its various retail outlets including Central and Planet Sports.

“Umbro is the true, authentic football brand with a global loyal consumer fan base,” says Neil Cole, chief executive officer, Iconix Brand Group. “We look forward to partnering with Future Lifestyle Fashions to expand upon the rich heritage of Umbro throughout India."
