Netflix has joined forces with SEGA and WildBrain to announce a new animated series,“Sonic Prime.”

With 24 episodes animated by WildBrain Vancouver, production by SEGA and WildBrain, as well as a raft of executive producers and showrunners from titles such as “Big Hero 6” and “Ben 10,” a new animated series, “Sonic Prime,” will bring the video game icon to Netflix in 2022.
“Sonic is a beloved character and holds a special place in everyone's heart including my own,” says Dominique Bazay, director, original animation, Netflix. “I spent many hours with the blue blur as a kid and it's a privilege to be able to bring this character everyone knows and loves on a brand-new adventure with Netflix, one that a generation of loyal fans and brand-new fans around the world can enjoy.”
Noted as a “journey of self-discovery and redemption,” “Sonic Prime” will keep the momentum going following the 2020 feature film and aims to capture the attention of fans aged 6-11 as well as legacy “Sonic The Hedgehog” fans of all ages.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021, “Sonic The Hedgehog” took the No. 1 spot worldwide on opening weekend with its most recent cinematic outing, according to WildBrain, ushering in the announcement of a sequel from producers SEGA Sammy and Paramount Pictures.
