Funimation has announced its service is now live in Brazil and Mexico. The service is now available online and will roll out on various apps and Smart TV platforms in 2021.
Funimation’s Brazil and Mexico service offerings include anime series subtitled in Portuguese and Spanish, respectively, with select titles dubbed.
“At Funimation, we want to connect and serve fans the world over,” says Colin Decker, chief executive officer, Funimation Global Group. “We see a large and vibrant community in Latin America who have waited patiently for our service to come to their region. We saw that it meant a lot to these fans, and so we challenged ourselves to go live ahead of schedule. I’m very proud to say that we got it done – just in time for the holidays.”
Funimation previously announced its SVOD service (Premium Plus) will be available in Brazil and in Mexico, each with a two-week free trial.
Anime fans in Brazil and Mexico are getting more than 1,500 hours from more than 200 series plus movies during the initial offering of content, including major anime franchises like “My Hero Academia,” “Attack on Titan,” “Overlord,” “Sword Art Online,” “Fruits Basket” and “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.”
After launch, Funimation will continue to add even more content, including several Simulcast series from Japan’s fall and winter seasons, as well as some classic catalog titles.
