NFL Players Inc., the marketing and licensing arm of the NFL Players Association, has launched Activate, an online micro-endorsement marketplace.

In a professional sports first, brands of all sizes can build endorsement campaigns with National Football League players.

The NFLPI’s Activate marketplace, powered by Opendorse, is based on valuating a player’s social media influence and offers an easy way for brands to connect with players for digital endorsements.

Brand owners can browse through a list of registered NFL players, connect directly with their marketing representatives and build targeted digital endorsement campaigns. More than 200 NFL players are already available through the Activate platform.

The online marketplace currently offers endorsement opportunities for Twitter, with Facebook and Instagram to be added in the coming months.

“The nature of athlete endorsements has evolved significantly over the years, and the Activate platform enables us to immediately and effectively deliver endorsement opportunities to brands seeking to capitalize on a player’s social media reach and influence,” says Keith Gordon, president, NFLPI. “The innovative technology that Opendorse created allows the platform to accurately adjust to changing market conditions–increasing or decreasing value based on quantifiable results.”
