Additionally, more U.K. consumers will shop online this holiday season compared to 2015.

Approximately 60 percent of U.K. survey respondents say they will spend the same amount on their holiday shopping as last year, according to a survey by Qualtrics, an insight platform.

In addition, 20 percent of respondents report they will spend even more while 20 percent believe they will spend less. Slightly more than half of respondents (52 percent) said they will spend between £80 and £400 while 23 percent between £400 and £800.

Other highlights from the survey include 25 percent of respondents will shop on the high street, down from 29 percent last year. However, 75 percent of respondents expect to shop online this season, up from 71 percent who said they shopped online last year.

Nearly 69 percent of U.K. consumers also claim to check prices online and high street prices before buying. Eighteen percent reported only doing so occasionally and 13 percent said they rarely check the price beforehand. When it comes to online shopping, 45 percent of respondents said they shop on a computer and 30 percent on a smartphone or tablet.

“Upbeat Brits continue to defy concerns about our future post Brexit,” says Ian McVey, U.K. director, Qualtrics. “They are increasingly at home online where they can look at each others’ social reviews and compare prices. Retailers are using sophisticated analysis to make online shopping a personalized, pain-free and relevant experience.”
