This Cyber Weekend, leading creator commerce platform Teespring is hosting live stream shopping on YouTube for its creators. Building on the YouTube and Teespring partnership, which launched in 2018 with the rollout of the “merch shelf” feature, the companies have now collaborated on additional features designed specifically for shopping during YouTube live streams.
“We’ve been really excited to launch this feature with YouTube since live shopping started to boom this year,” says Chris Lamontagne, chief executive officer, Teespring. “Through this partnership our aim is to provide a tool for creators to interact with their fans and drive authentic engagement across their channels. This feature comes just after our announcement of Digital Products - we’re keen to keep offering endless ways for creators to engage with fans across all realms of the internet.”
YouTube creators using Teespring can enable live shopping via tools available to eligible creators, which include a clickable product function that is visible on top of the popular chat section throughout a livestream – fans use this to communicate with creators and one another during live streams. Creators can “pin” merch to the top of their chat to drive concentrated attention to a specific product while they promote it. Any purchases made on a creator’s store during a live stream will trigger alerts within the chat that highlight the purchase, giving a whole new interactive element to the shopping experience.
"The buy-in from creators has been fantastic,” says Lamontagne. “We are seeing a really creative approach with creators planning to do physical merch drops on Black Friday, Digital Products drops on Cyber Monday and to create Charity themed Campaigns on Giving Tuesday."
