E-commerce site to get brick-and-mortar locations.
GameStop, the new owner of online collectibles retailer ThinkGeek, will open a new concept retail store focused entirely on collectibles this fall.
ThinkGeek and its parent company Geeknet were recently acquired by GameStop, which has been expanding its collectibles product line in its own stores worldwide.
The first ThinkGeek brick-and-mortar store will open in the Florida Mall in Orlando, Fla., Sept. 25.
Each ThinkGeek store will feature a wide assortment of geek-inspired collectibles, gadgets, apparel and other licensed products from top pop culture brands including Star Wars, "Game of Thrones," Nintendo, Marvel, "Minecraft" and more.
“The opening of our first brick-and-mortar store is a significant milestone for the brand and a great example of how the GameStop acquisition is a win for our customers,” says Katy McCarthy, president, ThinkGeek. “While people know us today as an online retailer, the GameStop connection will bring vastly more visibility to the brand and our ever-expanding selection of exclusive products.”
