Central and Eastern Europe’s three largest licensing agencies are in Budapest with representations covering all the major film and TV studios as well as character, lifestyle and sports brands.
The European Licensing Company (ELC) will highlight top entertainment brands from Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Cartoon Network, Alpha Group, The Moomins, and Mondo TV, as well as sports giants, Manchester United, Barcelona, AC Milan, WWE and NBA. At the company stand this year brands such as the classic Looney Tunes and hot properties such as Ben 10 and Bakugan will be featured. The company’s CEO, Hakan Durdag, says: “We are looking forward to attending Brand Licensing CEE. We work with partners across the CEE and Russia and will be looking to link up with both potential and existing clients during the course of the show.”
Kidz Entertainment/EEMC represents Fox’s Ice Age franchise as well as film properties such as Avatar, The Smurfs and The Twilight Saga. It also represents LEGO and a strong preschool portfolio including Thomas and Friends, Peppa Pig, Bob the Builder, Postman Pat and Timmy Time. And it’s the regional home for The Simpsons, Playstation and Zhu Zhu Pets. Kidz Entertainment has made significant in-roads into the Russian market in recent years and will be showcasing a Russian-made pre-school series at BLC&EE called “Masha and the Bear.” Kidz Entertainment has high hopes for its international broadcast and licensing potential.
Plus Licens, which was founded in 1977, represents a wide variety of top international brands including the Hasbro portfolio (Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony and Transformers, for example); Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob Square Pants and Dora the Explorer; evergreens such as Star Wars, Peanuts and Garfield and the Sanrio family of characters including Hello Kitty. Hello Kitty is enjoying rapid growth across the region since its launch and comprehensive showing in H&M. Expect to hear about lots of news of new deals and activity for the brand at the show next week.
Plus will also debut its recent signing, Pac Man.
