A new deal between Team GB and Moonpig will transform the British athletics brand into a series of new consumer touchpoints designed to help the U.K. “celebrate special moments” during the Tokyo Olympic Games, which begin July 23.

Featuring greetings cards, e-cards, mugs and t-shirts, the sports-focused designs bring the collaborative licensing partner roster to 31 and counting.

“With the Tokyo Olympic Games being delayed by 12 months as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we made sure to put this extra time to the best possible use,” says Olivia Wiggett, senior commercial executive, The Point.1888. “We’ve been able to reach out to more potential licensees and really take extra care in immersing them in the brand to be sure the products developed, and the marketing plans associated with them could reach their full potential. Moonpig was a no brainer for Team GB. They've done an amazing job on other sports properties and its wider licensing programs. Their credibility and reach make them a perfect licensee.”

“I’ve been so proud of the team and our licensees for their continued dedication and hard work and am thrilled that we’ve secured such a strong relationship with Moonpig in time for the Tokyo Games,” adds Paul Ellis, head, licensing, Team GB.

Available via the official Moonpig website, the new Team GB products surround Mother’s Day, Father's Day and birthdays on the run-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.
