Entertainment One Family has confirmed several new deals for the U.S. launch of Peppa Pig. Scholastic and Candlewick Press have signed on as publishing partners and Toys ‘R’ Us has secured retail rights for a line of toys based on the “Peppa Pig” TV series.
U.S. publishing partners for the brand, Scholastic and Candlewick Press, have plans for a series of books, which will begin hitting retail in August.
Both publishers will be working closely with Fisher-Price and Entertainment One for a coordinated retail launch. The first Peppa Pig toys, books and DVDs will be released concurrently to guarantee maximum exposure for the brand in the U.S.
Scholastic will launch its Peppa Pig publishing program with the picture book, The Story of Peppa Pig, a paper-over-board storybook. Launch plans also include a paperback 8x8 and a sticker storybook.
Candlewick Press will publish a range of hardcover and premium quality Peppa Pig novelty books to augment Scholastic's offerings. Candlewick will debut its line at retail with a hardcover picture book entitled Peppa Pig and the Lost Christmas List coming in September, followed by several other titles in spring 2013.
“Publishing has always been a crucial category to the licensing program so we’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Scholastic and Candlewick Press to the Peppa licensing program,” says Andrew Carley, head of global licensing, eOne. “With strong broadcast, publishing and toy partners now firmly in place, we have a solid foundation to build on and we’re focusing on a strategy that will ensure long-term growth for the brand in the U.S.”
Toys ‘R’ Us has secured the exclusive retail rights to an all-new line of toys based on the animated TV series, “Peppa Pig.” The toys, designed specifically for the U.S. market and manufactured by Fisher-Price, will be available in TRU stores nationwide beginning this August.
The assortment of Peppa Pig-inspired merchandise includes a Sip ‘n Oink Tea Set, Hug ‘n Oink Peppa Talking Plush, Schoolhouse and Tree House play sets, Peek ’n Surprise Playhouse and a variety of figures.
The full line of Peppa Pig toys will be merchandised in TRU stores, anchored by signage featuring graphics based on the hit brand, providing high visibility for the entire collection. To continually promote Peppa Pig throughout the fall season, eOne will collaborate with TRU on a variety of marketing activities.
“The undeniable charm and fun disposition of Nick Jr.’s cutest cartoon pig, Peppa, has captured the hearts of parents and little ones worldwide,” says Lisa Harnisch, senior vice president, general merchandising manager, Toys ‘R’ Us, U.S. “With the exclusive launch of Peppa Pig products at Toys ‘R’ Us, we’re excited to offer this kid-favorite property to customers through adorable playthings now making their way to our store shelves.”
