Oxford University Press, publisher of the Winnie the Witch series of children’s books, has appointed Metrostar to manage Winnie’s licensing program.

The first Winnie the Witch book hit stores in 1987, and the series has been translated into 27 languages and sold over 3.5 million copies.

Metrostar and Oxford University Press are developing a new style guide for Winnie and will be targeting licensees and retailers of apparel, giftware, plush, toys, stationery and accessories.

"Winnie’s longevity as a picture book character has won her a special place in the hearts of successive generations," says Liz Cross, children’s books publisher at Oxford University Press. "The Winnie brand communicates imagination, creativity, fantasy and, above all, a sense of fun and it is this that we want to bring to the world of licensing.”
