New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently announced April 29, 2009, as "Duke Ellington Day" for the 110th anniversary of the jazz icon's birth, according to Moda Entertainment.

Moda Entertainment's LicenseBox division, which represents the Duke Ellington Estate, will hold special events on the day in New York City, including a special A train round-trip service, open to the public, inspired by the legend's tune "Take the A Train." The celebratory daily runs, with stops through Manhattan and Brooklyn to Howard Beach in Queens, will be sponsored by The Islands of the Bahamas.
