The Coca-Cola Company is continuing to build its Coke Bottle 100 program, marking the centennial of the iconic glass contour bottle.
The month alone, the campaign will see the launch of branded Moleskine journals and a collaboration with designer Nigo and his Japanese cult brand Human Made. In August, an art exhibit at the Tokyo department store Isetan Mitsukoshi drew 450,000 visitors in its first week.
The limited edition collection of Moleskine notebooks is inspired by the Coke bottle's curves. Well-known illustrators created designs for the line including David Schwen, Matt Allen, Chris Weston (forpeople Design), Hitomi Watanabe, Iki Oyamade(Hi(NY) Design) and a team from Ogilvy & Mather Paris. The line, which will have a limited run of 5,000, is now available exclusively at Moleskine stores and the Moleskine website.
Japan's Human Made brand collaborated with Coca-Cola on a limited edition apparel collection to mark the anniversary. The line features five tees with vintage-esque screen prints that showcase the essence of the classic Coke bottle. The line debuted at a special event at Story by Nigo on Tokyo Fashion Night Out Sept. 12 and is now available at select specialty retailers in London and New York.
Finally, in August, one of Tokyo's largest department stores, Isetan Mitsukoshi, created a special event to celebrate the milestone and the 2015 introduction of the slim aluminum bottle in Japan. An "Art Slim Bottle" exhibit featured the works of more than 80 Japanese artists who designed their own take on the slim bottle. All the pieces were then auctioned off to benefit the charity Home of Art for Kids, a non-profit that supports art education in Tojoku, a region affected the by the earthquake in 2011.
Merchandise featuring some of the Coca-Cola art was also available for purchase at the exhibit including shirts, mugs and tote bags.
