Annual toy trade show will showcase companies from more than 30 countries, including more than 100 first-time exhibitors.
The 114th Annual North American International Toy Fair will feature more than 1,100 exhibitors at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City on Feb. 18-21.
Hosted by the Toy Industry Association, the event will showcase companies from 30 countries–including more than 100 first-time exhibitors–as well as 10,000 buyers representing 5,000 unique retail outlets. The event will also include a new exhibit area, dubbed the Launch Pad.
Furthermore, the event will also provide a number of educational programs as part of its Knowledge Network including the sixth annual Licensing Content Connection.
The track is presented in conjunction with UBM (organizers of Licensing Expo and Brand Licensing Europe) and the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association and is intended to help toy professionals gain an understanding of the fundamentals and inner workings for the licensing world in five sessions that will take place Feb. 18-20.
This year’s Licensing Content Connections sessions will include:
“Licensing 101” presented by Jessica Blue, senior vice president, licensing, UBM, and Sarah Pousho, director, sales and licensing, Goldieblox.
“How to Evaluate a License” panel presented by LIMA
“Staying Ahead of the Curve” presented by LIMA
“Positioning Your Licensed Toys & Characters for the Preschool Market” presented by Karen Raugust, author, The Licensing Business Handbook and Ira Mayer, former publisher and executive editor, The Licensing Letter and Youth Market Alerts
“How Entertainment Media Licenses Help Drive Toy Sales” presented by Steven Ekstract, group publisher, License Global.
Other show highlights will include:
Opening ceremony/photo opportunity (Crystal Palace): Following a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. on Feb. 18, the Toy Fair will officially open. A parade of costume characters accompanied by live entertainment will also be present.
Toy Trends Briefing (1E Hall – Room 1E09): At 4 p.m. on Feb. 19, Toy Fair attendees can get up-to-the-minute trend information direct from the show floor. The Toy Industry Association’s toy trend team will highlight the top trends and where to find them.
TIA’s Toy Safety & Compliance Update (1E Hall – Room 1E09): On Feb. 20, this annual session will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will highlight important changes in state, federal and international toy safety requirements. It will also share 2017 priorities from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
ShopToys365.com: Retailers keen to see products that will be showcased at this year’s Toy Fair are encouraged to check out the industry’s digital social marketplace for toys. This e-commerce platform will enable registered buyers and exhibiting companies to connect and conduct business online before, during and after the show.
Toy Fair officially opens Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. Show hours are Feb. 18-20 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Feb. 21 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
