On the heels of the massive $194 million global box office opening for Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” Legendary Entertainment has announced a new licensing and promotional program in support of the film. Celebrating 10 years of Monsterverse, this program marks a significant progression from previous the Monsterverse films both in categories and demographic reach as it complements the robust master toy line from long-term partner, Playmates, with high-end collectibles, expanded kids’ offerings, games, consumables, immersive experiences and more.

The products have secured extensive distribution across mass and specialty retailers, including Walmart, Target, Amazon, FYE, Books-a-Million, Entertainment Earth and others. New products will continue to be introduced throughout the fall and into 2025.

In addition to products, the Monsterverse expansion will deliver a new immersive experience in Los Angeles from 60out, which will be announced soon.

“It is exhilarating to see how far the Monsterverse franchise has come in 10 short years,” says James Ngo, executive vice president, franchise management, Legendary. “Our core fans are as engaged as ever while kids and families are embracing our Titans both at the box office and at retail.  Partners and licensees from all over the world have been emailing and texting all week, overjoyed with how GxK has performed for their brands and product lines.  We look forward to bringing more innovative and edgy partnerships to market for our fans worldwide.”

Brand Partnerships

On the brand partnership front, Legendary and Warner Bros Discovery have built a multi-pronged program with Volkswagen as the new film showcases Volkswagen’s ID.4 model.

In conjunction with the film’s release, Volkswagen has co-developed short-form content for social media, further solidifying the brand’s partnership with the film while reinforcing its commitment to global electrification. Set within the monstrous universe of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” the snippets offer a peek into the connection between the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Titans.

In food and beverage partnerships, Circle K is running its largest program to date with Godzilla x Kong-themed breakfast sandwiches, private-label chocolate bars, color-changing cups and frozen beverage flavors.
