The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has teamed up with maharishi for an exclusive apparel release ahead of the major Andy Warhol retrospective launching March 12 at the Tate Modern.
The collection, which explores the artist’s interests, features statement trousers and a cotton twill jacket featuring images from Warhol’s 1976 Skull series.
The black cotton jacket features a raw edge applique skull screen printed from a photograph taken by one of Warhol’s assistants. On the top of the skull is “everybody’s sense of beauty is different from everybody else’s,” a quote from Warhol, embroidered in his handwriting. On the bottom is Andy Warhol’s signature. The jacket boasts a Tate and maharishi collaborative logo, ribbed cuffs, two front pockets and center front press snap openings.
The trousers are covered in a colorful, all-over photographic print featuring the Skull series. A button with an internal strap can be placed on the leg seam at multiple heights, giving those who wear it the option to wear them full length, three-quarter length or as shorts. They’re fully adjustable around the waist and have two press snap-closure pockets on the rear.
The collection ranges from £295 to £395 (approx. $380 USD to $510 USD) and is available now on Tate Modern’s online shop.
